How She Wore It: Monique Williams

We got the chance to gain a little insight into one of our bloggers, Monique Williams. She gives us the inside scoop on life as a blogger and finding the perfect location for a beach getaway.

How did you first start blogging? So, I live in the British Virgin Islands, and I realized that there wasn’t a lot of blogs showcasing places to visit, places to stay, places to eat and things to do here. So, I decided I should definitely get into blogging, and that’s where it all began!

Where do you find inspiration for your blog topics? Anywhere from Instagram to Pinterest, but mostly just seeing something in person could spark a topic.

What is one fashion item you cannot live without? I definitely cannot live without a swimsuit. Living on an island, it’s mandatory to have one!

Why did you choose this Anne Cole Suit? I chose this suit because I love the “classic retro Summer in Cote D’Azur circa 1950” feel.

What is your favorite part of the suit? I really love the classic red color, it looks good on everyone. I also love the twist front bandeau style! It compliments my body perfectly.

Do you like to style your swimsuits in different ways? I definitely do. It all depends on where I’m going. If I'm going to a yacht club, I always add a cute coverup (like the fringe skirt), with some cool accessories (Like the pom pom bag and hat), or if it is just a regular beach day, I tend to dress down and throw on a pair of jean shorts.

Why were you in this location? I got invited to the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta by Yacht Club Costa Smeralda!.

Is this your favorite vacation spot? It is definitely one of my favorite vacation/chill spots. Perfect mix of luxury and relaxation.

What is your favorite beach accessory? Definitely sunglasses! I usually cannot see without them, haha.

What were the top 3 restaurants you ate at? The top 3 restaurants will be the Azzurra at the YCCS Clubhouse, Oil Nut Bay Beach Club Restaurant and the Rock Cafe.

What was the best coffee shop? Island Roots on Tortola!

What was the best activity you did? The best activity was hiking and finding secret beaches. Also just lounging beside the pool at the Yacht Club.

What was your favorite meal you ate? I had this chicken pasta with red pesto, mozzarella and parmesan at Azzurra at the YCCS Clubhouse, and it was so delicious! Local conch fritters from Leverick Bay Resort’s restaurant was also yummy!

What 5 items can we find in your beach bag? My DSLR camera, sunscreen, sunglasses, my iPhone and a book.

What is your favorite beach activity? Swimming is my favorite beach activity, I also like taking naps on the beach (is that an activity? Haha.)

Describe the culture of the location? The culture is vibrant, everyone is so friendly here, there are many cute boutiques throughout the area, and some of the best food you’ll ever taste.

Remembering Anne

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of swimwear industry icon and innovator, Anne Cole.

Our founder, credited with introducing the ‘tankini,’ passed away in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning.

Born in 1930 in California, daughter of actor and swimwear manufacturer, Fred Cole, Anne Cole began her career in swimwear as a child model for her father’s collection, Cole of California in the 1930s. Anne Cole later joined the company in the early 1950’s working in various roles within the company including marketing, sales, merchandising, and management positions. She later launched her eponymous collection Anne Cole Swimwear in 1982.

In 1997, Anne Cole set out to design a swimsuit that brought a tailored sensibility to swimwear and famously introduced the world to the ‘tankini.’ Boasting the more modest coverage of a one-piece with the freedom of a bikini, the style was an instant hit and quickly captured a third of all swimsuit sales at the time.

Castle in the Sky

Our 2017 campaign was filled with dreamy locations to shoot, including the breathtaking vision brought to life by Anthony Ingrao and Randy Kemper of New York's top architecture and interior design firm, Ingrao Inc.

Nap time anyone? The palm tree garden, one of many beautiful green spaces on the estate.

The home was the product of several years of construction, and countless tons of local granite.

Behind the Scenes: St. John, USVI

We ventured to Saint John to shoot the 2017 campaign - tough assignment!

We're bringing you behind the scenes on our adventure - from our castle in the sky designed by the team at Ingrao Inc, to the white sand beaches of Caneel Bay Resort, the premier vacation destination on the island.
